About the Bwiti Tradition

The Bwiti Tradition originates from the Pygmies in the forests of the Congo river basin. It comes from the Primordial Tradition, the universal knowledge from which all spiritual traditions of humanity originate.

The Bwiti Tradition is made of a series of ancestral mystico-spiritual initiation rites, using the root of the sacred iboga tree. It allows the initiate to enter other fields of consciousness and to navigate them in spirit accompanied by the sound of a sacred instrument and songs, which act as a guiding thread in this journey within. These experiences bring visions, experiences and knowledge.

About the NYma (shaman)

In Gabon, we collaborate with multiple highly regarded Bwiti Masters. Once you decide which initiation you would like to undergo, we can provide you with additional information about them. Our spiritual school is associated with the late Bwiti Master Atome Ribenga, whose former students have also become Bwiti Masters. Currently, we are only offering "Mboumba Eyano" and “Mimbare” initiations, but we plan to resume other initiations in the latter half of 2023.

The Program (Gabon)

Day 1-2

Arrive in Gabon on either Friday or Saturday and take a day or two to settle into the new environment, adjust to the time difference and the climate. We will be there to greet you at the airport and assist you in reaching your accommodation. However, please note that until the initiation begins, you are solely responsible for your accommodation and it is not included in the price. We can help you locate a comfortable and affordable place based on your budget.

On Saturday or Sunday we will meet with the Nyma who will be initiating you, to introduce you and for the initial divination.

Day 3-4-5

Your initiation will commence on Monday and conclude on the following Sunday afternoon. During this time, you will be provided with accommodation in a special room reserved for initiations.

On Monday we begin the purification and introspection process using different techniques to prepare the mind and body for the spiritual journey. As part of this process, you'll have a series of purification baths, introspection, meditation, and journaling.

You will have private consultations with the Nyma to help you understand and deepen your spiritual process.

Day 6

The initiation ceremony typically takes place on Thursday or Friday evening. Throughout the day, you will continue your purification and introspection activities. Later in the evening, we will commence the all-night initiation ceremony, complete with traditional Bwiti music and spiritual practices to assist and enhance your journey.

Day 7

Rest, integration, and journaling to support you returning to the physical plane. You'll have a 1 on 1 meeting with the Nyma to support you in interpreting your journey.

Day 8

On Saturday evening or Sunday morning , the Exit ceremony will commence. Throughout the ceremony, additional spiritual practices will be conducted.

Day 9

Following the ceremony, there will be an educational session where you will be provided with an explanation of certain spiritual aspects of the Bwiti Tradition and the initiation process you have just undergone.

Upon completion of the initiation ceremony, you may return to your accommodation to rest (please note that after the exit ceremony your accommodation costs are not included in the price of the initiation).

Day 9

On the following morning, we will meet you at your accommodation for breakfast, during which time we will answer any remaining questions you may have. We highly recommend that you stay an additional night in Gabon.

Day 10

The departure date is flexible, and you may choose to fly on that day, or extend your stay to explore the country further, visit national parks, or delve deeper into the Bwiti tradition by participating in additional initiations and practices.
